A d\u00e9ployer Energize Bridgewater<\/em> pour les r\u00e9sidents, la ville de Bridgewater collabore avec \u00ab South Shore Open Doors Association<\/a>\u00bb, Clean Foundation<\/a>, Efficiency Nova Scotia<\/a>et d'autres partenaires communautaires et gouvernementaux.<\/p>\n

L'\u00e9quipe de recherche qui travaillent Energize Bridgewater<\/em> is from McGill University’s Department of Geography. Professeure Mylene Riva<\/a>, la Chaire de recherche du Canada sur le logement, la communaut\u00e9 et la sant\u00e9 est \u00e0 la t\u00eate de cette recherche.<\/p>\n

La pr\u00e9carit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique est l'une des probl\u00e9matiques centrales Energize Bridgewater <\/em>abordera. La pr\u00e9carit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique d\u00e9signe les difficult\u00e9s rencontr\u00e9es par les m\u00e9nages lorsqu'ils n'ont pas les moyens d'acheter suffisamment d'\u00e9nergie pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 leurs besoins. Les besoins \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques des m\u00e9nages comprennent le chauffage, la climatisation et l'alimentation des appareils \u00e9lectrom\u00e9nagers. La recherche a montr\u00e9 que 2 m\u00e9nages sur 5 \u00e0 Bridgewater sont en situation de pr\u00e9carit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique.<\/p>\n

Laurianne Debann\u00e9, chercheuse, explique que la compr\u00e9hension et la lutte contre la pr\u00e9carit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique suscitent davantage d'int\u00e9r\u00eat depuis le d\u00e9but de la pand\u00e9mie de COVID-19 et la crise du co\u00fbt de la vie. Au cours des deux derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, les gens ont pass\u00e9 plus de temps chez eux. La disponibilit\u00e9 et l'accessibilit\u00e9 des logements sont devenues plus limit\u00e9es, et le co\u00fbt de l'\u00e9nergie a augment\u00e9 pour beaucoup. Pour certains, l'emploi est devenu irr\u00e9gulier et les revenus ont diminu\u00e9. Ces facteurs peuvent peser sur le budget des m\u00e9nages.<\/p>\n

Durant le printemps 2022, l'\u00e9quipe de recherche a pass\u00e9 un mois \u00e0 Bridgewater pour mener une enqu\u00eate sur les besoins \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques, le logement et le bien-\u00eatre. L'enqu\u00eate a permis de mesurer l'ampleur de la pr\u00e9carit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique \u00e0 Bridgewater avant la mise en \u0153uvre compl\u00e8te d'Energize Bridgewater.<\/p>\n

“Energize Bridgewater is addressing issues relating to energy poverty seen in many small towns across Canada.” says Debann\u00e9. “On a personal note, I’m grateful to be doing my masters on this project. My work is embedded in a larger project, partnering with a municipal government actively trying to implement change. It’s a rare opportunity for us to measure the impact of a program tackling energy poverty from start to finish.”<\/p>\n
