Congratulations to two lab members for receiving funding awards from the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Charles-Olivier Simard, a PhD student in Demography at Université de Montréal who is co-supervised by Dr. Riva, won the SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship for the next three years; while Ella Myette, an incoming Master’s student in Geography at McGill University supervised by Dr. Riva, won the Master’s Program Scholarship.

Charles-Olivier’s research concerns household formation in Inuit communities. His doctorate studies are co-supervised by Dr. Riva and Dr. Simona Bignami at the Department of Demography at Université de Montréal.

Ella Myette, a former research assistant in the lab, is an incoming Master’s student in Geography at McGill University starting in Fall 2019. Her research will look at the intersection of mining activities and the health and well-being of Indigenous Peoples and communities.
